I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Mike Mannix; I have recently been appointed a Business Rep. with the Local. I have been employed with PPL/Talen since 1984 and worked at Brunner Island, first as a Handyman then in the Operations department and then in the I&C department. I got involved with Local 1600 first as a union steward in 1992. I’ve also held the position of Chief Steward at Brunner Island for the past ten years. I also served on the Local’s Executive board for eleven years and have been on four negotiations teams for PPL/Talen. I am currently representing the Service Techs, Brookfield Energy, Montour and Brunner Island power plants. Although I have been involved with the local for many years, please be patient with me as I learn my new role as a Business Rep, there is much to learn. I look forward to getting out across the service area to meet more of our members.
Presently I am working on the implementation of two new progression lines at Brunner and Montour, Fossil Specialist which merged the Operations and Mechanical Departments and Electrical and Instrument Specialist. Hot topics include Progression Line Seniority, Overtime Guidelines, Schedules and Training.
