T&D caught a slight break from storms for a short time. The November storm and Thanksgiving holiday created quite the grievance machine with direct violations of the Overtime Opportunities Agreement and the Troubleman MA. Complaints were requested in multiple regions due to the inconsistency and violations of the MA’s.
The Company approached Local 1600 about the need for permit holders for Mutual Assistance Contractors during severe storms. The desired work groups are Electricians. Currently, there is not an agreement, and Electricians do not have the proper PTAG training. A small group of field personnel representing Lines, Substations, and LTN are engaged in the discussions to find a path forward. Local 1600 supports this with the proper guidelines and language.
A class of 21 Lineman Helpers started training on October 28th. Three were internal and 18 were new hires. They should be joining their rosters later this month or early in the new year. Please welcome them aboard when they join your team.
There has been some chatter in the field about 10-hour shifts to support work/life balance and to facilitate work completion. We are supportive and hope to see some agreements very soon.
24HBG-011 and 24HBG-013, Unjust Suspension/Unjust Termination were settled favorably with the employee returning to work during November.
For the new hires and those that are not aware, below are the regional Chief Stewards and their rostered locations. This group dedicates a lot of time that goes unnoticed. Thank you for your support and dedication.
