Spring is in the air, as we all get outside and start to enjoy the nicer weather, please remember to keep safety at the forefront of your minds, whether it is at work or at home.
Some things that I am working on,
Montour –
Issue with people being told they must use vacation and mini-vacation to cover sickness after their sick bank has been exhausted. This has been grieved and filed for arbitration.
Issue with calling out storeroom employees during off hours. In grievance.
Issue with paying double time for working 2nd ST day. This was settled favorably.
Brunner Island –
Company charging individuals sick time when sick on a holiday. This has been grieved.
Holtwood –
B.U. members working hand in hand with contractors. This is in the grievance process.
Most of our plants are short handed and people are being asked to do more with less. If you feel overwhelmed with your workload, talk to your supervisor to prioritize the work and most of all, work safely, do not get into a rush or cut corners.
