The Troubleman vacancy canvass has been completed and 34 positions have been accepted. The Chief Stewards are reaching out to the field and discussing a plan to temporarily fill some of the remaining vacancies. We are hopeful that volunteers will rotate a desired length of time as needed. I appreciate the effort the Chiefs have put in to move this along as best we can. We are still working through the grievance on Panther Valley. In addition to overtime and storm grievances and vacancies in multiple work groups, we have had two termination arbitrations. One was settled favorably by all parties on the day of arbitration, and we are waiting for a ruling on the other. We are also working through another termination and hopeful for another favorable resolution by all.
PPL was picked up for mutual assistance and sent groups to Georgia, Kentucky, and Florida. Leaders, JL’s, L3 or above trainees, and a few Transportation Mechanics headed out in late September and early October to help restore power in the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Local 1600 Chief Stewards were notified of the mutual assistance call by the Regional Directors. They had their foreign utility rosters in order, and overnight and through the early morning they had a plan and rosters ready to go. Crews were released to go home and prepare and were on the road around 12pm. Great execution in short notice by our Chiefs and all involved.
The Lineman Rodeo Team will be competing in the International Rodeo. Best of luck to our team as they make the trip to Kansas.
