Hello Sisters and Brothers,

As we head towards the holidays, I would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

I would also like to congratulate the winners of the IBEW Local 1600 Officer Elections. Along with E-Board and Unit positions. These positions require a great deal of effort and time and I wish to thank all the members that were nominated for these positions and stepped up to the challenge.

I would like to give my sincerest thanks for all those that have been doing the job and welcome all those about to do the job. Please thank the sisters and brothers when you see them for all they do, both past and present for the dedication to all of our union members.

With the election behind us I would also like to strive to reach a position that brings us together, no matter who we voted for or supported. The party we support doesn’t change the people we are or the union we are part of. We will continue to work hand in hand with our brothers and sisters to make sure our future is as bright and long as it ever was.

We have held or will have complaint meetings on many issues such as :

  • Overtime
  • Schedules
  • Meals
  • Holidays
  • Pre-arranged work
  • Rest period

We will continue to fight for what is in the contract on these and any other issue that they choose to try and twist to their advantage.

We are awaiting finale date assignments for the Meal Arbitrations as it stands right now it will be some time between the middle of December and the middle of January   the union has excepted all dates as long as they are open for the legal counsel we have assigned to the case. And we are now awaiting the company to report to Triple A their selection. I will post a date once it is agreed to.

We are scheduling several 2ndstep meetings in relation to:

  • Management doing bargaining unit work
  • Meals
  • Callout

In solidarity,

Ron Webb
