Hello Sisters and Brothers,

Talen
One of our Brothers from Brunner Island was off without pay to care for a family member. He is a recently hired Member. Our Brother’s time off was covered with vacation donation from the Union and Management employees at Brunner Island. Thank you all for your generosity!
Montour Power Plant announced June 25th that they will be eliminating the Coal Yard Progression line due to the conversion to gas fuel at the Montour Power Plant. Six of our Members were impacted by the elimination of the progression line. We met with our Members after the announcement to discuss the placement process under Article X.

PPL
The Company notified us on June 18th that they will be closing Panther Valley Service Center. There was a grievance filed because the Company does not agree that the closing of the Service Center is covered under Article X.

Bench Donation to the NSUJL
Our Members and PPL Electric Utilities employees of the Susquehanna Region donated a bench to the Fallen Lineman Memorial Park located at Louis Schiavo City View Park in Hazelton, PA. The bench is made of 150 to 200 pounds of 1000 pounds of recycled plastic collected from materials used to protect electrical supplies when they are shipped.

The recycling campaign was led by Melinda Confair (Below), Facilities Technician III from our Montoursville Service Center. Thank you, Melinda, and everyone who participated in this recycling campaign!

Lineman Appreciation Day
July 10, 2024
Thank you to all of our Sisters and Brothers who help keep the lights on!
We appreciate you and all that you do!

July 10, 2024 will mark the 128th anniversary of the death of the founder and first president of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Henry Miller.

Henry Miller was working as a Lineman in Washington, D.C. in 1896 after a storm when he suffered a fatal fall from a utility pole, which is why we celebrate July 10 as Lineman Appreciation Day today.

I hope you have a great summer enjoying some quality time with your family and friends!

Happy 4th of July!

Take care and stay safe,
Rusty
