We are closing in on the end of summer, and coming upon my favorite time of year!! Back to school is in full swing as well. Be mindful of the bus traffic and new little ones now starting the schoolyears. Also be aware as fall clean up will be right around the corner an keep safety your top priority!!
Theres been a lot of big news happening in our current Energy business. The government has signed a new nuclear act, power prices have gone up, and our plants are running more. Data centers are emerging calling for more electricity demand. The business has been on a major change. As all these things are happening let’s stay on track, be focused, and prove to our companies we are their best choices when it comes to staying reliable to supply quality workmanship!! We are in a good place to make the power industry a great career choice again.
Plant updates-
Montour- Working through the Coal yard group displacements. Six employees were impacted by the reduction. We are very close to having all of them in new positions. Three new Montour Fossil Specialist trainee positions were just filled. Good luck to those members starting their new roles, as well as the displaced members in their new positions as well.
Both units were running at time of writing.
Brunner- Working on hiring Brunner Fossil Specialist trainees, Brunner Coal Equipment Operators, and Fossil Laborers. Some of the trainee positions have been filled, but trying to fill a few more yet. Units 1and 2 were running, And Unit 3 was available.
We have one arbitration upcoming for a change of schedule issue.
Brookfield- two units under outage. The plant also seen an increase in capacity output.
Want to give a big Congrats to the Brunner Island plant folks on making it a full year with no injuries!!!!! This is great news, and shows that our members do in fact put safety as a Number 1 priority!! Keep up the good work!
